Storing Beekist Tomatoes
For wonderful tasting Beekist tomatoes that taste like tomatoes should taste, and for keeping them longer, please follow the instructions below:
Step OneAs soon as possible after shopping, please remove tomatoes from plastic bag or plastic punnet]
Step Two: Please store in a fruit bowl away from direct sunlight (as shown above left). Store the least ripened ones at the bottom and the ready to eat ones at the top
Step Three: Please rotate every two days
Please please, do not store your Beekist tomatoes in the fridge.
WHY?
Because tomatoes are a sub tropical fruit and not used to low temperatures like the 4 degrees in your fridge. As a result, when placed in the fridge, they lose their flavour, their nutritional value, become watery and degenerate quicker than if kept at room temperature out of direct sunlight.
